Cookout Wit Key is a community event designed to help bring more food consciousness into our community, while also connecting with local POC owned food and health services. As a community it is important for us to stay aware of what foods are being placed in our community and more importantly what foods we're bringing into our homes and into our bodies. We are what we eat!
Enjoy diverse cultures of food by local POC owned businesses such as: Fort Hill Jerk Chicken (Jamaican food), CoCo Verde (Latino Vegan), Saintz Kitchen (Vegan Haitian Food), and Zaz Restaurant Kitchen.
We will have complimentary fruits skewers and fun summer treats.
Each food Vendor will be serving food at $10 and below.
Our pastry Vendors will be serving complimentary desserts.
Most High Kingdom will be serving us ultimate family vibes at our cookout with a mind blowing performance. Most High Kingdom is Boston Based music collective: Milkshaw Benedict, Najee janey, Sean Wire. and Gib the DJ. The four of them work to impact our community in an inspiring way through their music and support.
Chef Cecilia and Chef Ivannoe are lead chefs and owners of Jamaica Plain-based Dominican catering company Coco Verde Vegan. Coco Verde Vegan was born out of a love of bold authentic Latino flavors and a desire to enhance healthy lifestyles for everyone, dish by flavorful dish. We use influences from our Dominican background, to create healthy, plant-based options without sacrificing tradition and flavor!
MealsbyJo is a nutrition consultation and meal planning company that assist individuals on living a healthier lifestyle, including weight gain or weight lost programs. Joanne Dorgilus, the CEO, counts client’s calories and macronutrients. She personalizes a meal plan just for clients, she tries to incorporate her clients' favorite foods as much as she can. Her services include a customize menu creation with the options to cook yourself or she can cook your lunch and dinner meals for you.
As a music artist and growing entrepreneur, Kerveen Saint-Phard runs Saintz Kitchen, a medium created as a way of learning, loving, and expressing one's self through food and community. SK is a teaching tool and a resource to educate on empowering holistic positive practices for the body, with the intention of applying those principles to the mind and all areas of life.
In 2011, Kai and Chris Grant began selling their exquisitely spiced jerk chicken—available chopped, whole, and in wings—from their Roxbury backyard on Saturdays. Four years later, Fort Hill Jerk Chicken’s birds can be ordered online for weekly pickup, and the couple plan to turn the first floor of their home into a full-fledged restaurant.
